This is the time of year to play outside! If you are looking for something to do outside with the kids, check out how to make Sidewalk Puffy Paint. It’s super easy but a little messy! The best combination if you ask your kids.

We actually made this for the first time last spring. That was when we were all at home decorating our sidewalks to try to brighten the days of others. Hopefully that trend continues!

Ingredients for Sidewalk Puffy Paint

The ingredients for Sidewalk Puffy Paint are all household items that should be easy to find. You will need water, flour, shaving cream, and assorted food dye.

This is a great project if you have any expired flour sitting in your pantry. That’s what sparked this activity for us! You can also pick up a cheap bag of flour at Dollar Tree.

Once you have the ingredients, you will also need some gallon sized baggies and cheap squirt bottles. The clear condiment bottles from Dollar Tree work great for this. There are two in a pack so definitely worth the price!

To make this easy paint, combine 1 cup water with 1 cup flour in a gallon sized baggie. Make sure you get all the chunks out.

Then add about 1/2 cup of shaving cream and several drops of food dye. You will need to have one baggie for each color.

I cut the tip off the bag and transferred it to the squirt bottles. This part could get a little messy.

The kids loved using the squirt bottles to create designs with the sidewalk puffy paint! Spending the afternoons outside in the driveway is great for us.

This is also a great time of year to take a nature hunt! Be sure to check out our Nature Painting and Fairy House Building activities for more fun ideas to do outside with the kids.
