ALDI Healthy Favorites for Busy Families

We have had an ALDI grocery store for at least a couple of years now. I have several friends who love it and have recommended different products to me. They have also told me about the great deals you can find there on lots of healthy products. It was time to go on a hunt for my ALDI Healthy Favorites.

I finally decided to make a visit there over the weekend. The weekend may not have been the best time to do this. Although, it was either go on the weekend or go with an unpredictable three year old.

Favorite Finds at ALDI

I knew before going that I would need to bring my own bags and that I would need a quarter for a grocery cart. In case you have never been, you do get the quarter back once you return the cart. These are a couple of things they do differently to keep prices lower.

Check the ALDI Ad before you go!

I would highly recommend that you check out the flyer before you go in. You can check it out on their website. I did not do this and would have been way more prepared if I had. This is definitely not necessary. This is advice coming from a girl who writes a shopping list and then rewrites it in the order of the store. I know I’m not the only one who does this!

Great deals at ALDI

As you can see from this flyer, they have some amazing deals on select meat and produce! These items were a little picked over by Sunday afternoon when we were there. I would recommend going on a weekday if at all possible.

ALDI Healthy Favorites for Families

Here are some of the items I thought were great deals and some of our favorite products. There were so many great buys for busy families who try to eat healthy!

Popcorn

Great deals at ALDI grocery store

Popcorn is one of our favorite healthy snacks! I am always looking for different varieties and great deals since we go through so many bags. I thought this was a great price at $1.99.

Applesauce Pouches

Applesauce Pouches

I like to do our own pouches when possible, but store bought ones are very convenient and make it easy to have a healthy snack on hand. They are also a staple for school lunches.

These looked like a very healthy choice and $1.89 is a great price. I noticed that they also had organic baby and toddler pouches for 79 cents each. That is also a great price. We used to buy these a lot when the kids were smaller.

Organic Salad Mixes

ALDI Organic Salad Products

This one would probably get me back into the store! I regularly buy a similar product at our local grocery store for $3.99. This is a great price at $1.99.

Whole Wheat Sandwich Thins

Who doesn’t love sandwich thins? These are so great for school and work lunches and even breakfast sandwiches. I don’t think you can get much better than this $1.69 price.

Organic Olive Oil

Organic Olive Oil Product at Aldi

I usually like to only buy olive oil that is bottled in Italy but I found this organic variety at ALDI. I thought I would give it a try for such a great price of $3.99.

ALDI Produce Picks of the Week

ALDI mushroom sale

This is one of the reasons I feel like I need to check the flyer before heading to the store. You can find some great deals and possibly create your menu plan around some of them. This was a great find for us since we eat a lot of mushrooms. I couldn’t believe the price was only 69 cents!

Great deals on ALDI Healthy Favorites to feed your busy family!

In conclusion, I will definitely be shopping at ALDI now to feed my family. We try to eat healthy. I know that is different for everyone. For me, eating healthy means limiting sugar and processed foods, including lots of fruits and veggies in our diet, and trying to choose whole grain products.

I hope you enjoyed reading about our Favorite Finds at ALDI! I have to admit I was a little overwhelmed since I was a newbie shopper there. I kind of relate it to shopping at Trader Joe’s. You have to know what certain items you want to pick up and know that you can’t shop for everything on your list there.

Are you an ALDI’s fan? What are your favorite products to pick up there? I would love to hear about it!

I love Aldis! ❤️ It has changed our grocery shopping so much & has made it cheaper! My kids love those applesauce pouches, the organic gummies, organic teddy bear crackers (just to name a few). It’s where I do most of my shopping & my list is huge and of course you write a list in the order of how the store is laid out. ?

I have been shopping at Aldi ever since I was a kid and accompanied my mom on her grocery trips. Now many years later I still go there, it’s simply a great store. I love the quality and the fair prices.

I was very impressed with their selection of pouches. Wish I had gone there when my kids were smaller and went through way more pouches!

Love this post! There is an ALDI that is supposed to open up right down the street from me. Hopefully it opens soon so I can get in on all of the ALDI goodness!

We had an Aldi open at the front of our neighborhood (read- I can bike there!!) and we love it. The produce is always great and their nuts/trail mix is a better price than anywhere else. Plus, I found a great wine for less than $5!

      July 18, 2017 at 7:53 pm

I would love to hear which wine! I am hoping to get some the next time I go. That would be amazing to be able to bike there!

My issue with Aldi is that they don’t take coupons and don’t have any of the brands that I would eat

    • Glitter On A Dime says

      July 18, 2017 at 12:27 pm

I didn’t even realize that. It is probably because they carry mostly their own brands. That is why it is always good to shop around for the best deals!

I can’t believe how good some of those deals are! I wish we had one here, but we don’t. Fingers crossed maybe sometime there will be one!

Yes, they seem to be opening up new stores all the time. Hopefully they will open one in your area!

we don’t have Aldi here in Northern Ireland but when I went interrailing around europe many moons ago (too many moons ago) that’s the only place we would buy groceries and then go for picnics :p I haven’t eaten Nutella since lol I wish we did have it though because you can really get some good deals. We have Lidl so it isn’t so bad and easy enough to shop on a budget

I am a HUGE Aldi fan. I love their “simply nature” line and the fact that they offer organic produce at an affordable price. Definitely one of my favorite places to shop. Great post!

We LOVE Aldi at our house. So cheap, but very good quality. We are huge fans. Other things to buy there: frozen chicken breast (I used to think frozen chicken was weird to buy but their’s is good), Whey protein (chocolate), and cashews.

Love Aldi! I converted a few months ago, and it has started saving me a lot of money! They have so many great snack options for kids that are fairly healthy! You Can’t beat their prices on most produce, too!

The Aldi’s near me actually isn’t that convenient but they are good for nonperishables, the produce at my location is always hit or miss for quality. Actually some of my favorite finds have been the european imports (the store started in germany) which have included some great mustards and jams, cheap packaged gnocchi and spatzle, high quality chocolate bars and some tasty biscuit/cookies. I’ll definitely look for that organic olive oil on my next trip, that’s a fantastic bargain!

Welcome!
