We are really enjoying Olympics Week for our DIY Summer Camp {Camp Mom}. This activity has been one of our favorites! Balloon Tennis is a fun and easy activity for all ages. It only takes a couple of supplies to create the rackets and then you can let the fun begin!

To make the rackets we used paper plates and self-adhesive tipped craft sticks. I set out crayons and sports themed stickers for them to use to decorate their own paper plate. They really enjoyed this part and making the racket their own special creation.
Once they were done designing their paper plate, I attached the self-adhesive tipped craft sticks to the paper plates. Make sure you place these high enough. We had placed one of them too close to the edge on the first try and it did not hold up.
If you can’t find the self-adhesive tipped craft sticks, try using large glue dots on the end of the craft stick. They should firmly hold the paper plates onto the craft sticks.
Playing Balloon Tennis
Now you just need to blow up a balloon and you are ready to play some balloon tennis! I love that this project combines being creative and active into one activity.
The kids had so much fun with Balloon Tennis! My pictures are not that great since they were moving so fast trying to hit the balloon. Here is a quick clip of them in action!
This would be a great party game as well! Just blow up a few balloons and let the kids have fun batting them around. You could even let them design the rackets around the party theme for a crafty activity. We have done it for Halloween and used a ghost balloon for playing. Super fun!
We’ll be wrapping up our Olympics Theme today. This summer has actually gone by so fast and we only have two more weeks of themes to share. This activity would also be perfect for a Sports Week Theme.
