We wrapped up another week of DIY Summer Camp {Camp Mom} with some easy crafts and activities for Olympics Week. This was a really fun theme and did not require a whole lot of prep on my part. We could have done way more activities, but the whole point of the DIY Summer Camp is to keep it simple for a stress free summer!

We started the week with a trip to the library to pick up some great books related to our Olympics Theme. The books we chose were all about sports, goals, dreams, and sportsmanship. Our favorites ended up being Dino-Hockey, Sally Sore Loser, Olympig, and Squirrels on Skis. One of my favorite parts about having summer themes has been changing out the books in our reading nook. I’ve really enjoyed researching and picking out books that I think we’ll enjoy!
OLYMPIC COOKIES
One of the first activities we did was a huge hit with the entire family! We made these easy Olympic Cookies. We just baked sugar cookies and frosted them with cream cheese icing. Then we added M&Ms using the colors to symbolize the Olympics Flag.
OLYMPIC RING CIRCLE PAINTING
If you have been around the blog at all, then you know we love a good painting project. We really enjoyed this circle painting art project. We used cardboard tubes with red, green, yellow, blue, and black acrylic paint to symbolize the Olympic Rings. This was a very simple project and perfect for preschoolers.
OLYMPIC BEAD BRACELETS
Our next craft ended up being the perfect dinnertime activity. I pulled out the beads and gold cord for them to make Olympic Bead Bracelets. They were able to sit at the counter and play and thread the beads while I worked on dinner. The bracelets were super cute and I think Graylie has picked up a new hobby. I tied a knot on each side of the beads just to keep them in place.
BALLOON TENNIS OLYMPIC THEMED ACTIVITY
We wrapped up Olympics Week with a fun activity of Balloon Tennis! This activity combines being active and creative into one project. First we created our own rackets from craft sticks and paper plates. Then they were able to use those to bat around the balloon. This was a lot of fun for both kids! The pictures were a little blurry since they were moving so fast. You can check out more pictures and a video from our previous post.
This was a very fun theme full of easy Olympic Themed Crafts and Activities! We won’t have a theme this week since we will be at our annual cousin camp. Every year we get the kids together with their cousins. We usually do this during summer break. This year we’ll be spending some time in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This is really special for them since we usually only see them once a year. We’ll be back the following week though with Rainbow Week. I’m super excited for that one!
