Spring is coming and we couldn’t be more excited! After a few days of nice weather, I think mother nature is teasing us. This Spring Play Dough Activity Tray would be great to have for any upcoming rainy days.

Kids of all ages love play dough! It can be great for fine motor skills. One of our favorite activities is this Spaghetti Bead Tower set up.

Does Dollar Tree have Play Dough?

Dollar Tree often has the actual Play-Doh brand of play dough at their stores. Then they have a few other brands I have seen as well. For this activity we used a Crayola Play Dough that I found there. They even have a scented variety on their website.

Spring Kids Craft Supplies from Dollar Tree

This time of year you can usually find it since they are stocked for Easter Basket supplies. I used it in a Preschool Themed Basket I put together last year.

Setting up a Play Dough Tray

We have made our own glitter play dough before. It is super fun and easy to make. When you are looking for a quick activity, it is nice to have some store bought versions on hand.

For this Spring Play Dough Activity Tray, I used four colors of play dough. When it was time to play, I went ahead and opened them to make it easier to get started. I also added the small canisters of glitter in case they wanted to turn it into glitter play dough.

Then I added the pretty flower gems. My daughter loves anything sparkly! Lastly you will need some sort of cutters or tools. I used a spring cookie cutter set and organized it all in a chip tray from Dollar Tree.

I try to encourage lots of independent play at home. My kids like it when I create beside them. They really enjoy coming up with their own creative ideas using the tools and supplies I provide them.

This activity tray is a great indoor activity. All the supplies came from Dollar Tree so it is super inexpensive. As you can see, it is also quick and easy to set up.

Once you are finished playing, you can load everything back into the tray for easy clean up. Then you will be ready to use it again later.
