4th of July week includes lots of fun patriotic crafts, snacks and activitiesHappy 4th of July! We are closing out our week of patriotic fun by going to the local parade today. We have had a lot of fun in our second week of DIY Summer Camp {Camp Mom}. There were a few more activities that I wanted to do but just ran out of time and energy.

Patriotic Popcorn Cake

We started off the week by making this super fun Patriotic Popcorn Cake! This is a great recipe to make with kids and they will love sampling all the ingredients as you go. The best part is that this recipe can really be customized for any holiday. You would just need to change up the color of the sprinkles and the mix of candy pieces.

The recipe for Patriotic Popcorn Cake is so simple and perfect to make with kids. You only need a few ingredients and it would be perfect to take to a picnic or 4th of July party!

Fun Painting Projects

We also did A LOT of painting! These are all super simple projects. The first one is Cookie Cutter Painting. Like the Popcorn Cake, you could customize this activity for any holiday or season as well. It is great for toddlers or preschoolers since it is easy for them to hold the cookie cutters in their little hands.

Patriotic Cookie Cutter Painting is an easy and fun preschool activity!

We also tried Fireworks Painting with cardboard tubes. I love being able to do crafts with things we already have on hand. The prints that they made with this were so pretty! We did add a bit of glitter glue as well.

The next painting project was pretty popular when I shared it on Facebook. We tried Fidget Spinner Painting! My 9 year old son was all about this one.

Fidget Spinner Painting is a super cool activity for kids or adults!

When I saw this idea on Pinterest, I knew we HAD to try it! You basically squirt a little watered down paint onto a fidget spinner and watch it fly across the paper. The kids were a little worried about getting their fidget spinners messy but the paint washed off very easily.

Patriotic Slime

We also tried making Patriotic Slime this week. Kids LOVE slime. I really don’t get it but I knew it would be a fun activity for the kids. We used silver glitter glue and star confetti to give it a festive feel. The confetti made it a little hard to play with though since the starts have pointy edges.

There was one thing that we tried that was kind of a fail. We tried making our own flag ring toss game. The idea is to make the “rings” out of paper plates. This part was similar to our Star Wreath Craft and we really enjoyed that process. The bad part was that the paper plates weren’t really heavy enough to throw and it was impossible to get them to hit the flags. Oh well….it was worth a shot!

Patriotic Crafting for kidsAs you can see, we had a fun week celebrating America and are looking forward to all the festivities today! Be sure to join us next week as we take on Nature Week. You can follow us on Facebook or Instagram if you want to keep up with all the fun throughout the week!
