Monster Blow Painting based on the book Monsters Love ColorWe have enjoyed reading a lot of fun books this week! It has been Rainbow Week of our DIY Summer Camp {Camp Mom}. The book  Monsters Love Colors has definitely been a favorite for us.

That is what prompted this Monster Blow Painting Book Activity for Kids. I had seen this process art activity on one of my favorite artsy blogs Raising Kinley. Cara shares some amazing bright and colorful art projects that she creates with her daughter Kinley.blow painting

Blow Painting with Straws

There are actually two processes to this project. The first one is the actual blow painting. To complete this step you need the following supplies:

  • Acrylic Paints (red, green, yellow, blue, and purple)
  • Pipettes
  • Paper (Cardstock works great!)
  • Straws (We cut ours in half.)

You will need to water the paint down so that it is thin enough for the kids to blow around. Let them drop the paint onto the paper using the pipettes. Then using their half straws, have them blow the paint around on the paper to create fun monster-y globs of paint puddles.

Once the blow painting is complete, you’ll need to let their artwork dry for a few hours before starting the next step. It will be totally worth it once you see how fun it is!

Once the paint dries, you’ll need these supplies:

  • School Glue
  • Googly Eyes (We found these fun ones at Dollar Tree.)
  • Sharpie Marker

Monster Blow Painting

This was my favorite part! Choose some of the paint globs to turn into silly, googly monsters. Use the Sharpie Marker to draw ears, mouths, hair and feet on those little guys.

Glue on the googly eyes for the most amazing monsters you have ever seen. I couldn’t believe how cute this came together!

Rainbow Week has been my favorite theme so far! How could you not love this adorable Monster Blow Painting Book Activity? I’ll be doing a recap tomorrow of all the fun activities we’ve been doing.

Summer is almost over but we have one more week for our DIY Summer Camp {Camp Mom}. We’ll be starting Kindness Week this weekend with a service project through our church. I thought that would be a great theme to end with before heading back to school.

This fun Monster Blow Painting Book Activity for Kids is a bright and colorful art project based on the book Monsters Love Color.
