It’s that time of year! McDonald’s is offering their very popular Shamrock Shake. Since it is already feeling like spring here in North Carolina, I tried to pull off a healthy version of this Shamrock Shake for Gavin. I would actually say it’s more of a Shamrock Smoothie.

We really enjoy smoothies and I prep them every week for school days. Our Ninja Blender gets a workout almost every day! Their favorite is a Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Smoothie.
Shamrock Smoothie Shake Ingredients
I didn’t really want him to watch me assemble it. I knew he would be less likely to try it if he saw the spinach going into the cup. I was right but once I added a little whipped cream and sprinkles he couldn’t resist. He slurped down the entire glass!
Here are the ingredients I used to create this version of a Healthy Shamrock Shake. They are all super healthy and can be found in most grocery stores.
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 cup pineapple (canned, fresh, or frozen)
- 1 frozen banana
- handful of fresh spinach
- splash of green juice (We use Bolthouse Farms)
Blend it all together. Add whipped cream and sprinkles if desired. You could also serve it in a cute St. Patrick’s Day cup or with a fun straw to make it even more festive!
We don’t do a lot to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day but it is fun to have a few treats and inexpensive decorations! It’s amazing how a little whipped cream and green sprinkles can turn a healthy green smoothie into something fun and exciting!
