We have had some beautiful weather lately! Last Saturday, it was such a nice day that we decided to craft outside. Our project that day was rock painting. I have seen so many wonderful ideas for Kindness Rocks that I wanted to make some for us to hide around our community. I had purchased a variety of acrylic paints and brushes from Michael’s earlier that week to try and ordered the rocks from Amazon.
The idea is to paint the rocks, let them dry, and then write encouraging and inspirational words on them. Then you can take these rocks to parks and other public places and leave them to be found. You never know who could use a random word rock to brighten their day!
I let the kids do the painting and I did the writing. They especially enjoyed the cool metallic paints I picked out. I used a black paint pen to write the messages. We had such a great time painting outside that I can’t wait to do it again! Now that our rocks are complete, we’ll look for places to leave them so others can find them.
Just an update….we have been spreading our rocks around the community for about a year. Our favorite places to hide them are at the playground and near bike racks. We’ll definitely be painting another batch soon! This was a great activity for Kindness Week during our DIY Summer Camp.
