Myra Makes - A Creative Learning Adventure

When I created my first Twitter account a few months ago, I had no idea I would discover so many fun and creative accounts to follow! One in particular is Myra Makes. They are the creators of this amazing activity book, Myra Makes: Journey to Cloud City

We ordered our copy on Amazon.com and received it in early November. I decided it would be the perfect thing to introduce over Thanksgiving Break. I was pleasantly surprised by how interactive and creative this book is. Once we read the first page on how to use the book, we were both excited to begin.

Gavin immediately pulled out drawing and craft supplies. He enjoys building and imaginative play so this was perfect for him. He has been learning to write cursive this year in third grade and was very proud to practice that skill in this book.

One of our favorite parts of this book is meeting new friends along the way. In the beginning, you create three characters to join Myra on this adventure. There are no rules and it allows the child to be as creative as they choose. Here are the characters Gavin created.

Once they start the journey there are different problems to solve and areas to visit. As they travel along, that is where they pick up different friends from different areas. His personal favorite was picking up these forest friends. He could relate them to some of his stuffed animal friends and chose to name them as such.

We actually have only made it halfway through the journey so far. I am hoping to make it last through the beginning of Christmas Break! It is really nice to have a creative activity on hand for the days that school is out and it’s too cold or rainy to go outside.

If you are looking for a fun activity book to encourage creativity and problem solving skills, this is definitely the book for you and your family! They also have a three month subscription box that looks super cool. We’ll have to try that out next! 🙂

  1. This looks like such a great book. I am all about activity books and boxes for my kids and finds that it really cuts down their time on the ipad ;). Win-Win.

    • It was definitely fun for my little artist! We are looking forward to finishing up the rest of the activities next week!
